This offer has a lot of history items included, more than pictured, including original manuals which were stapled and not bound, service bulletins, and many letters. There is a MONARCH booklet with a long history of Fish Carburetors. There are a couple booklets by Mike Brown from the 1980s. The original owner was a dealer and tester/installer and personal friend of John Robert Fish Sr. He was credited for solving a cold weather issue they had with the Fish Carburetors. There are letters included from Fish Carburetors’ tech, communications back and forth regarding the issue and thanking him for solving the problem, as well as many more communications from John Fish Sr. There are also communications from other companies considering marketing their products with the Fish Carburetors on them including Rotary Air Force Gyroplanes and communications about placing a large order. There are many confidential communications that were sent to the owner from John Fish, and personal correspondence from when he was ill. A Stock Certificate for 9 shares in the Fish Carburetor Inc., in the name of the owner is included.

There is a press release/news paper from the Grand Opening of FISH Corporation in Daytona Florida with a lot of company and personnel information and an additional news paper having Fish Company and race information. There is also a picture of the modified stock 1955 Buick Century M-1 race-car owned by John Fish and driven by NASCAR legend Glen “Fireball” Roberts from the Darlington SC, Darlington Raceway “Southern 500”, the first 500 mile race in the NASCAR circuit. Fireball Roberts also drove the 1955 M-1 Buick Century at the Daytona Beach NASCAR race in 1955 and won that race with a 1 minute and 14 seconds lead ahead of Tim Flock who was driving a Chrysler. Roberts was robbed of the race 24 hours later on a bogus technicality charge and the win went to Flock. Ray Fox, another legend from the NASCAR world built that winning engine the night-early morning before the race, and of course it had a FISH M-1 carb on it. There are also letters included from NASCAR Hall of Famer Ned Jarrett to Robert Fish. Jarrett also used Fish Carburetors on some of his cars. Fish Carburetors also made carburetors for motor cycles and other small engines. They met their demise when the government, through the Post Office, held up shipments going into Canada marking the boxes as “fraudulent” and stating there was no manufacturing plant or manufacture of the carburetors. While Fish won the case, the costs led to him filing bankruptcy and losing his business. There are many copies of legal documents included regarding that case that were sent to the owner by Fish.
Fish carburetors were re-manufactured starting in the early 1980s by Mike Brown. The carburetors in this offer are originals from the 1950s.
There could be much more information stored away about John Robert Fish and the Fish Carburetors. The winner of this auction will receive any future information uncovered.
